Hi everyone!
My latest news/update is not so good…
I have had an injury to the fingers on my right hand that occurred about 3 weeks ago at one of my throwing sessions. Unfortunately because of this I had to cancel all of my indoor meets that I intended to compete at. This includes the national indoor championships, which I was really excited about!!
I am disappointed because I was in good shape, and I believe I could throw over 18metres with the 6kg.
Anyway, I continue physiotherapy to overcome this short term injury.
I have not thrown in over 3 weeks and it has been a nightmare. Now I am back on to heavy training in the gym which has been fun and also working on my general physical conditioning. (I run 2km per day) and have been focusing on my throwing technique.
My mantra is “Don’t Stop Believing” which also happens to be the title of a song from my favourite band, Journey! An injury can be a blessing in disguise and it makes you a better athlete because you eliminate the mistakes that you were doing.
So I hope I’ll be okay in some weeks and be back throwing shortly. My first meet of the year will most likely be at the end of march… so I will keep you updated!
