I am 6′ 2″, about 225 right now, and I currently live in Iowa City, Iowa. I ended my college career as an all american by throwing my pr at nationals, which was 59.19m. That was good enough to get me 7th place. Ever since then I have been determined to make it as a pro. Last year was a bit of a struggle as I only managed 57.90m, but I viewed it as a working year. I changed my technique a lot and am still currently doing that.
My training philosophy is pretty simple. I try to put as much energy as I can into the circle. With that said, I throw a bunch of different weights and implements. I throw heavy and competition weight discs(2.5k, 2.25k, 2k) , heavy to light balls (2.5k, 2k, 1.5k), and I throw a 3k medicine ball. On top of that I do some specific strength with an 8 lb ball, which would mainly be heavy stands. I average anywhere from 400 to 450 throws a week over 5 to 6 days. My weight training is minuscule to say the least. I lift a max of three times a week with a focus on either snatch, bench, or squat, then some core added on. So, I do one of those lifts a day. I do as little as I can to improve my lifts so that I save it for the ring. As far as next year goes, I want to make it to the olympics and be able to compete. My training pr is currently 64m, so I just have to get out and do it in a meet.
