Chad Wright is a Jamaican athlete specialising in the discus throw. He currently has a Personal Best of 65.03m with the 2-kilogram implement. Wright also finished fourth at the 2015 Summer Universiade and sixth at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. We recently managed to get in contact with Chad and asked him a few questions.
Q. We asked Jason “Dadz” Morgan this same question in our interview with him but how do you find the popularity of discus in Jamaica? How does it compare to other aspects of track and field such as sprinting and other sports like cricket?
Q. What challenges have you faced through your discus career? How have you dealt with this?
Well one of my main challenges I’ve face over the years was hunting down a certain mark. In 2012 I was 12cm from the B standard for olympics which would have given me a chance to go there, but unfortunately I didn’t get it.
Q. Who are your idols in the sport?
Some of my main idols would be Alekna, Milanov, Kanter and Dadz. They are awesome.
Thank you for your time Chad, we wish you all the best with the upcoming Track and Field season.
