Nike SD (Shot Put / Discus)
Nike SD
The Nike SD as it states are designed for Shot Put and Discus throwing and feature a flatter and slower sole. This caters for the glide technique in shot put as well as Discus and Rotational Shot-Putters that do not require as much speed from their shoes. The Nike SD’s are labelled as more of a beginner shoe however this could not be further from the truth. This shoe can cater for beginner throwers however various throwers such as World Indoor Shot Put champ Ryan Whiting amongst other top level throwers choose to wear this over the Rotationals. Another misconception is that these shoes cannot be worn for hammer. Although not strictly designed for hammer, many elite throwers still choose to wear this shoe over the Rotational. Another advantage to this shoe is its sole. It can tolerate a lot of throwing sessions with minimal wear when opposed to Nike’s other shoe. The other selling point of the shoe is that it comes in much cheaper than the Nike Rotational 6.
