Brett Morse
Brett Morse is a 26 year old discus thrower from Wales with a discus PB of 66.84m. Brett has represented his country at a home Olympics and has made a world championship finals.
Throwers Unite recently caught up with Brett Morse and asked him a few questions.
Q. How did you get started in athletics?
A. I always played football and rugby at School but could throw further than anyone else in my school so competed at my county championships, I won that so competed at the Welsh schools championships where I came 2nd. From there I represented Wales so decided to start training. If I could represent my country from never picking up a discus I thought I had the potential to achieve something good.
Q. What makes you continue to train and put in hours of work for this sport?
A. I believe that the best is yet to come and know I would regret it if I gave it all up without reaching my potential. After throwing 66m at age 22 I told myself I want to be the first British guy to throw 70m, that still hasn’t changed.
Q. Who are your main motivators or motivational sources?
A. Gerd Kanter was my idol growing up, everything from his technique to professional attitude is something I’ve worked towards. I’ve never met a more focused and driven man in my life and that’s why he is one of the greatest in history.
